You can use one or all of the channels to conduct research.

Mobile application channel
A tiny application is installed on each fieldworker's phone.
The application downloads surveys assigned to the fieldworker and allows surveys to be conducted, stored and uploaded directly from the phone securely.
This is the recommended channel for semi-permanent or permanent research teams or larger studies.

WAP channel
Fieldworkers are either sent a link which allows them to conduct a survey using the browser on their phone or login to their accounts.
No download is required.
This channel is useful in scenarios where an the Mobile Researcher application cannot be installed or for ad-hoc usage by field workers or respondents.

SMS channel
Fieldworkers or respondents may send a text message containing the responses to the survey to a specific number.
No download is required and data may be collected using any mobile phone.
The SMS channel provides a universal data collection method but has some severe limitations on usability and functionality.
